KMOMA

Brief Description about the Client:

Kolkata Museum of Modern Art (KMOMA) is an upcoming art museum being built in Rajarhat, Kolkata. It is the third Museum of Modern Art in the world and the first one in Asia. The other Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) are located in Bilbao, Spain and New York, USA.

KMOMA is a tripartite venture between the Govt. of West Bengal, the Govt. of India and the private sector. The museum has been allotted a 10-acre plot in the satellite township of New Town and has been estimated to cost over Rs 500 crore. The highly acclaimed Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, who created the Bird’s Nest stadium for the Beijing Olympics, are the architects for the project.

Our Role:

KMOMA selected Festoon to design their official website.

The Challenges:

The Kolkata Museum of Modern Art (KMOMA), once completed would not only be one of the most prominent landmarks of Kolkata or India but would also be one of the most sought after places in Asia. The museum would further increase the importance of Kolkata and would turn it into a global hotspot for art lovers across the world. Thus an institution like the Kolkata Museum of Modern Art (KMOMA) needs a website which matches with its scale and stature.

Our Solution:

Considering the kind of worldwide viewers that the website of the Kolkata Museum of Modern Art (KMOMA) would be expecting, the website was designed to match the global design ethics and standards. Though the website is an informative one yet the content was kept short and crisp. Smart usage of icons, images and selection of background colour to match the logo of the museum ensured that the website has a clean, neat and sophisticated visual appeal.
