Our Role:
Festoon was assigned the task of developing a mobile application game that would raise awareness about sexual abuses of children and ways to tackle them with the help of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offence (POCSO) Act 2012.
The Challenges:
The primary objective behind developing the game was to sensitize parents as well as children about sexual abuses of children, how to understand them, tackle them and then how to use the POCSO Act to get justice for the victims. It is a delicate and complicated subject and needs a very sensitive treatment. The game was being designed both for children and parents and thus had to be developed in such a way so that it is easy to understand as well as retains the attention of both children and adults.
Our Solution:
First and foremost, a very thorough study of all the sections and provisions of the POCSO Act was done. The next step was to create a hypothetical story of a girl who gets abused by her teacher in school and how she finally gets justice through the use of POCSO Act.
Since the intention of the mobile app game is to make people play and differentiate between correct and wrong steps, the story was broken into a flow chart with various segments. Each segment had its own set of questions with probable answers. The correct answer would fetch the player higher marks and the wrong would reduce his score. The intention of the game is to make people understand the correct steps and make them aware of it by answering these questions.
A dedicated team of illustrators and animators then created all the characters and scenes of the game based on the script.
Finally the coding team stitched together all the elements of the game and created India’s first mobile application based game on the POCSO Act.
